As a liberal arts graduate, I’ve learned to value creativity, innovation, and versatility. My education here has equipped me with hard and soft skills needed for my field as well as the ability to observe and synthesis across disciplines, which is instrumental in being a versatile candidate. Through my reflections in my manifestos, I have seen how I have grown over the last four years and shaped the vision I have for myself and my future.
My portfolio site is a reflection of my identity and my potential. It showcases my creative and professional work in photo and video, which demonstrate my creativity and my technical proficiency. It also reveals my personality and my values, which help me build relationships and trust with others. My portfolio site will also be a place for further learning, as I will showcase some of the academic works I am finishing this semester, such as my music in advertising paper. In my audience analysis, I identified fast-paced, autonomy, and innovation as attributes of my ideal workplace, so by constantly iterating on my portfolio I can continue to upgrade my digital presence and show my personal innovation. There are also new video projects upcoming for me and I will have more time to devote to them next semester so that I can make some capstone pieces for my portfolio to bolster my job applications and future creative prospects.
One of my core values as a libera arts graduate is being a lifelong learner. This shown through numerous aspects of my portfolio, such as being self taught in photography and videography, learning basics of graphic design to create posters and prints, getting more into cycling and keeping myself in shape, and trying online courses to learn more about fields not covered in my degree. Lifelong learning is the core of my portfolio and it can be seen through all of my artifacts and pieces, no matter how irrelevant they may seem. This value dates back to when I was in high school, and challenged myself to learn more by making YouTube videos such as reading a book a week for a year, where I learned to try all types of different genres and learn lots of seemingly useless knowledge that I could then synthesize later.
Finally, my professional experience shows how I have learned to work with other people in a professional setting. Working with freelance clients and High Point Discovered have taught me about customer service and building relationships, while my time at Shield AI taught me how manage multiple projects at once as well as building relationships with different departments across the company. I made a lasting impact by suggesting new projects such as a media package that could be standardized to send to multiple news agencies. The resulting package has been shown on CNBC, FOX Business, and Tokyo TV.
My portfolio site is not only a showcase of my past work, but also a reflection of my future goals. It demonstrates my willingness and ability to learn new things, and to adapt to changing situations and demands. It also indicates my interest and enthusiasm for the fields and industries that I want to pursue.
